![]() ![]() But it’s also important to cover the basics well. So there would be a ton of things that Krita could improve on - like the brush engine, the assistants and the pop up window. PS is far from perfect and has neglected the needs of painters for years now. After all, those features are there and have survived for a reason. They should be taken and improved on, and getting rid of them could backfire. While I respect the idea of Krita wanting to be different, which it certainly is, you can not completely ignore the basic ideas that painting programs have adapted over the last few years. This will not only apply to me, but to many professional artists who are depending on PS at some point as well. ![]() But if you make a living from painting and depend on inter-program compatibility, this isn’t working out yet. ![]() This is really unfortunate because I love the brush engine a lot and even the resource management seems to be mostly fixed now. I already tried to switch in Krita 4 and now I fear it’s waiting time again. With this basic feature not supported (amongst others), I will have to end my Krita adventure once again. Each of them imported the file properly and I was ready to go. To have a comparison how other programs deal with that said file, I opened it in Procreate, Artstudio Pro and Paintstorm Studio. I would have to reconstruct the whole file with all its dozens of layers. I opened one of my PS files which I planned to finish in Krita for testing the brushes, and all the clipping masks are gone. If I can’t open my files back and forth, this won’t work. And at some point I have to get my files back to PS to finish the layout work and get them ready for print. And with the layer tree not being too clean of a layout, this will become too complex very soon.īut the worst thing is, that this isn’t compatible with PS (yes, I mentioned it again). So also the length of the layer tree is extended. And on top of that when I clip-mask two layers, I suddenly have 4 layers. If I have to create a group every time just to be able to clip, at some point I will not be able to see my layer names any more. Groups are one thing, clipping masks are a separate one. ![]() For me this is way too complicated and leads to an unnecessarily overloaded layer tree. I’ve watched some Youtube videos meanwhile. ![]()
